24-year-old striker arrives on loan from Leverkusen

On the final day of the transfer window, SV Werder Bremen officials made another successful signing. The Green-Whites have loaned striker Victor Boniface from league rivals Bayer 04 Leverkusen for one year. Peter Niemeyer, Head of Professional Football at SVW, announced this on Monday evening.

"We are pleased that we were able to complete the loan and secure Victor. He has shown outstanding performances in the Bundesliga and proven his qualities. We are convinced that he can build on that with us," explains Peter Niemeyer.

Head coach Horst Steffen also sees the center forward as a major asset. "Victor is physically incredibly strong, has a very good finish, and good pace. He shone as a goalscorer and assist provider in Bayer Leverkusen's championship-winning season. I'm sure he can become a key player in our group this season."

The attacker is also looking forward to the move to Osterdeich: "The discussions with those in charge convinced me to make the move to Werder Bremen. I want to contribute with my performances to helping us achieve our common goals this season. I'm looking forward to my new team and my time at Werder Bremen."

Victor Boniface joins with a recommendation from Bayer Leverkusen, having scored 61 goals (32 goals) in 51 matches for Union Saint-Gilloise. Before joining the Belgian club, he played for Bodø Glimt in Norway. He scored 23 goals in 66 competitive matches. The 24-year-old has also played 13 times for the Nigerian national team.
