Al-Hilal surrendered top spot in the Saudi Pro League after they were held to a 1-1 draw by 10-man Al-Ittihad.

After Al-Nassr's dominant victory over Al-Hazem, Simone Inzaghi's side relinquished their place at the summit, despite playing over 80 minutes with a numerical advantage after Hassen Kadish's early red card.

The hosts broke the deadlock after just five minutes when Karim Benzema – against his former side – released Salem Al Dawsari, whose cross was neatly swept home by Malcom.

Malcom was involved again four minutes later when he was on the receiving end of a professional foul from last man Kadish, who was shown a straight red card following a VAR review.

Theo Hernandez hit the side-netting, and Benzema was denied from close range, as Al-Hilal looked to capitalise with the extra man.

However, the visitors equalised eight minutes into the second half, when Muhannad Al Shanqiti's deep cross was nodded in by Houssem Aouar.

Sergej Milinkovic-Savic headed into the side-netting at the other end, and Hernandez was denied from a tight angle as the hosts had to settle for a share of the spoils.

Data Debrief: Wasteful hosts slip up

Al-Hilal were given a 63.6% chance of winning by Opta's supercomputer before kick-off at Kingdom Arena, which then increased to 93% following Kadish's red card in the ninth minute.

Yet, despite 21 shots on goal worth 2.48 expected goals (xG) – to their opponents' seven attempts with an xG of 0.77 – the hosts had to settle for a point, which was taken advantage of by Al-Nassr.
