Arsenal transfer news: Noni Madueke closes in on move as Gyokeres takes action

  /  autty

Arsenal have signed three new players this summer and plenty more incomings are expected before the transfer window slams shut, with Noni Madueke close to joining from Chelsea

Arsenal's transfer business has ramped up in recent weeks, with Kepa Arrizabalaga, Martin Zubimendi and Christian Norgaard all officially joining the club this month. And the spending is set to continue as Mikel Arteta looks to strengthen his squad.

The Gunners have finished second in the last three Premier League campaigns and will be desperate to win their first league title since 2004 next season. There have also been several outgoings, with Nuno Tavares and Marquinhos joining Lazio and Cruzeiro respectively.

Jorginho and Kieran Tierney have also signed for Flamengo and Celtic after their contracts expired, while the club reached an agreement with Takehiro Tomiyasu to terminate his deal a year early.

And with all that in mind, Mirror Football takes a look at all the latest transfer news and rumours from in and around the Emirates...

Madueke move close

Noni Madueke is set to become Arsenal's newest signing, with the Athletic reporting that Chelsea have given him permission to travel back to the UK for a medical.

Arsenal have agreed a £52m deal for the England international, who is set to put pen to paper on a five-year deal. Madueke produced 29 goal contributions in 92 appearances for Chelsea, having joined the club from PSV Eindhoven back in 2023.

The 23-year-old will be Arsenal's fourth summer signing after goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga and midfielders Martin Zubimendi and Christian Norgaard.

Gyokeres goes on strike

Viktor Gyokeres has effectively gone on strike in an attempt to force through a move away from Sporting Lisbon this summer.

Arsenal remain the favourites to sign the striker, but they have so far failed to reach an agreement with Sporting. However, Gyokeres has now refused to turn up for pre-season training in an attempt to force Sporting's hand.

Portuguese outlet Record have reported that a €5m (£4.3m) gap remains between the clubs after their latest talks, with the Gunners prepared to €65m (£56m) upfront plus future payments of €5m (£4.3m) and an additional €10m (£8.6m) in add-ons.

Eze latest

Mirror Football understands that Arsenal are poised to make a formal approach to Crystal Palace for Eberechi Eze.

Eze has a £68m release clause and the Gunners have held several rounds of talks with the player's representatives, CAA Base. Arsenal are hoping they can sign Eze for less than that, but Palace have no desire to accept a lower offer.

The Eagles are optimistic that Eze will remain at Selhurst Park, although the England international is open to a move away.
