AFC Bournemouth Official Announcement

AFC Bournemouth is delighted to announce the signing of promising young striker Álvaro Rodríguez, with both parties agreeing to a long-term contract.

The 22-year-old striker has officially joined the Cherries. He previously played for Elche in La Liga during the 2025/26 season, delivering outstanding performances.

Throughout the season, he made 24 starts and 10 substitute appearances, scoring 7 goals and providing 5 assists.

Two of these goals were scored at home against Real Madrid and Barcelona.

Álvaro was born in Palamós, Spain, and is a Uruguayan international. In his early years, he trained in the Girona youth academy, before moving to Real Madrid's youth academy in 2020.

After five years in the Real Madrid youth system, 18-year-old Álvaro made his first-team debut under Ancelotti in January 2023.

He provided an assist in his La Liga debut and scored his first Real Madrid first-team goal in his second league appearance.

In the Madrid derby at the Santiago Bernabéu, he came on as a substitute late in the game, rose high to meet a corner kick from Modrić, and headed the ball into the Atlético goal, scoring a dramatic equalizer.

The player, who has made 10 first-team appearances for Real Madrid, the fifteen-time Champions League winners, later joined Getafe on loan before moving to Elche in the summer of 2025.
