Eriksen closes in on Jon Dahl Tomasson's goalscoring record for Denmark

Denmark sealed their second friendly-win within the space of three days, when Lithuania were put to the sword in a 5-0 win for the Danes in Odense as the homeside had no trouble dismantling one of Europe's absolute football minnows.

Danish national team coach Brian Riemer had chosen to make no less than seven changes in the line-up compared to Saturday's 2-0 win in the Parken Stadium in Copenhagen against Northern Ireland. Two of those changes was to give Kasper Dolberg and Mika Biereth a achance to shine in attack on the expense of Manchester United's Rasmus Hojlund.

Biereth didn't take long to get his goalscoring going, when he joined AS Monaco from Sturm Graz, erasing Zlatan Ibrahimovic's Ligue 1 record in the proces, and Biereth also got on scoreboard after just 11 minutes in Odense with a prolific header to score his first goal for Denmark in his just third game for Riemer's men.

Christian Eriksen has had a torrid season in Manchester United, but in the game against Northern Ireland he showed that he still has a magic touch in orchestrating the Danish attack while also scoring Denmarks second goal. That pushed him into third on the list of players having scored most goals for Denmark in history with 45 goals. (Jon Dahl Tomasson holds the record for most goals scored along with Poul "Tist" Nielsen who both have scored 52 goals)

And Eriksen, celebrating his return to Odense where he played for OB from 2005 to 2008, didn't waste long to score goal nr. 46 after 18 minutes against Lithuania, when he met a low cross from Biereth to hammer it into the top left corner.

Just five minutes later, the visitors' defense caved in once more, when Dolberg after initially losing possession flicked the ball elegantly past Edvinas Gertmonas to score Denmark's third goal within the space of 25 minutes.

The first half misery for Lituania was then compounded after 32 minutes, when Edgaras Utkus was sent off for pulling down Biereth as last man but the home side didn't manage to score more before the interval.

During the interval heavy rain began pouring down over Nature Energy Park but it didn't put a damper on the Danish goalscoring feast as Eintracht Frankfurt defender Rasmus Kristensen made it 4-0 from a nice delivery from Patrick Dorgu two minutes into the second half.

With Lithuania suffering from their one-man disadvantage, the second half turned into a virtual Danish power-play with the visitors rarely being able to relieve themselves of the Danish pressure.

That proved costly once more after 62 minutes, when Anders Dreyer, who has had a fine start to his MLS-career with San Diego FC, curled the ball into the far corner to make it 5-0.

There were plenty of further Danish chances to add to the scoreboard but the Danes settled for a comfortable 5-0 win.
