Estêvão contributed a goal and an assist in Brazil's 4-0 friendly win over India. After the match, he spoke to the media in the mixed zone about his feelings on returning to the Brazil squad, his mindset after missing the World Cup, and Ancelotti's trust in him.
Estêvão, in this new cycle for the Brazilian national team, you are gradually becoming one of the representative figures of Ancelotti's squad. Tell us about your current form with Brazil.
I am very happy to be able to play, score goals, and help Brazil win. It's always a great feeling.
Can you elaborate on how you feel right now? You missed matches in March and the World Cup. Now you've not only returned but are performing well, back in the Brazil team atmosphere that you've missed. How does that make you feel?
Of course, I'm increasingly understanding the meaning of that saying: you don't know what you have until it's gone. After missing the World Cup, I began to cherish my time with the Brazil squad even more, because the moments we spend here are unique and very special. I'm happy to be back, and I'm pleased to contribute to the team in matches.
How has your experience in India been these past few days? This country is culturally very different from Brazil. What are your thoughts?
It's indeed very different. But despite some difficulties, like the hot weather, we adapted very well. It's been a very good experience for us.
Carlo has always spoken highly of you. He said that regardless of your club situation, he would rely on you and Endrick. What do you think of the coach's confidence?
I'm very happy. It's always motivating to have the trust of a coach like Ancelotti. Moreover, he's given me the opportunity to play in matches, so I'm very pleased. I will do my best to give everything on the field and repay his trust. I will also strive to perform well at my club and try to return here next time, because being able to represent the Brazil national team is always a wonderful thing.
