FC Andorra is in mourning. Visibly emotional and in tears, club president Ferran Vilaseca spoke at a press conference on Tuesday afternoon at the Comunal-Joan Samarra Stadium in Andorra la Vella, expressing profound shock at the death of Jesús de Miguel following a serious incident during Monday’s match against Tenerife.

Accompanied by majority shareholder Piqué, general manager Jaume Nogués and head coach Carles Manso, Vilaseca offered condolences to the player’s family on behalf of the club and announced that FC Andorra had asked to postpone its next league match against Mallorca, scheduled for this Sunday at 2 PM.

"We are here today because we are deeply shocked and saddened by the death of Jesús de Miguel. First, we must offer our sincerest condolences to his family, to Tenerife, and to everyone who was close to him," Vilaseca began, with sorrow evident throughout his address. The president also stressed that FC Andorra shares Tenerife's pain: "We know that no words can ease such grief, but we want them to know that we are with them and share their sorrow."

The press conference, scheduled for 4:30 PM, was held to publicly convey the shock felt throughout the club on a day that will be hard to forget. Vilaseca also expressed support for Tenerife’s players, coaching staff, employees and fans. FC Andorra has been in close contact with the club since the incident. “We are deeply moved by everything that has happened, and we share the pain the club is going through. From the very first moment, we have been in close contact with them and are ready to provide any help they need.”

Request to postpone the match against Mallorca

One of FC Andorra's main decisions was to request the postponement of next Sunday's match against Mallorca. The decision reflects the profound emotional impact the tragedy has had on the squad. "We have asked to postpone the next match against RCD Mallorca because this is a time of extreme grief, and respect and support for everyone affected must come first," Vilaseca explained.

The president also confirmed that FC Andorra has been in contact with LaLiga, the Andorran government and other relevant institutions to provide all necessary assistance. The request for a postponement is currently awaiting a decision from the competent authorities.

Beyond the schedule, the club’s main concern is the emotional well-being of its members. The entire FC Andorra squad returned from Tenerife in the early hours, arriving at El Prat Airport at around 4 a.m., deeply affected by what had happened. The club is therefore offering psychological support to anyone who needs it.

“What happened has had a huge psychological impact on our players, coaching staff and everyone at FC Andorra. This is an extraordinarily difficult time for all of us, and we must ensure that no one faces it alone,” Vilaseca said. He confirmed that the club is providing psychological support to its members and stressed the importance of unity in such a serious situation.

"We are a team, both on and off the field. Now, more than ever, we need to stay together, support each other and take care of one another," he added in one of the most moving moments of his speech.

FC Andorra's majority shareholder Piqué also posted a brief message of sorrow on social media that morning: "I am deeply saddened. Rest in peace, Jesús." Although the former player attended the press conference that afternoon, he did not speak. Vilaseca's remarks focused on respect, mourning and support for those affected. He did not comment on the passage of play or the details of the incident.

"Today, the entire football world and the entire sports world are in mourning. This is a moment of immense sadness, and we must stand united, support those who need it most, and show the utmost respect," the FC Andorra president said before reiterating his condolences to the player's family and Tenerife. He concluded his speech with a final message to Jesús de Miguel: "Rest in peace, Jesús."
