According to Italian media reports, Sissé was originally scheduled to join PSV Eindhoven in January, but Milan chose to keep him and help him recover from injury.
Journalist Alessandra Gozzini wrote in La Gazzetta dello Sport that in January, Sissé had already booked a flight to Eindhoven, and PSV Eindhoven was eager to welcome him. Milan, however, decided to keep Sissé and support him through his recovery from an injury that cut his season short as early as February of the previous year.
Gozzini stated that Sissé has since become a valuable asset under Amorim's management.
