Kane: This is the best chance I'll have to win the World Cup

England captain Harry Kane believes this summer will be his best chance to win the World Cup as he feels he is "in my prime".

The Three Lions face Costa Rica in their final warm-up game on Tuesday, with their World Cup opener against Croatia taking place on June 17.

According to the Opta supercomputer, England are third favourites to win the World Cup, at 11.2%, behind Spain (16.1%) and France (13%).

Kane, meanwhile, is in impressive form. He scored 61 goals in 51 games for Bayern Munich in 2025-26 (not including the Club World Cup), more than any other player in the top five European leagues.

The striker also won the Golden Boot at the 2018 World Cup, when England finished fourth, though he is now keen to get his hands on the main trophy.

"This is my third tournament now, the shape I'm in and also coming off the season I've had, It's probably the best opportunity I'll have maybe in my whole career to win the World Cup," he told ITV Sport.

"We haven't won in an England shirt for 60 years, we've been extremely close and knocking on that door. But now it's time to step over that line.

"This tournament always could be your last, you never know in football. I want to play for a long time, I feel as good as I've ever felt - I feel in my prime.

"But you never know what's around the corner with injuries."

England have faced Costa Rica on two previous occasions, drawing 0-0 during the 2014 World Cup before beating Los Ticos 2-0 in a friendly in June 2018, courtesy of goals from Marcus Rashford and Danny Welbeck.

The Three Lions are unbeaten across their last 16 internationals against CONCACAF nations (W12 D4), conceding just four goals in that time since losing 2-0 to the United States in June 1993.
