According to Corriere dello Sport, Leao has been embroiled in transfer rumors in recent weeks. In an interview, he stated that he would be "very satisfied" if he left Milan, and also called Pioli his best coach.

Leao said in an interview with RTP: "I have achieved what I wanted to achieve at Milan. In football, you can never say never, and I don't know what the future holds, but if I do leave, I will leave with great satisfaction, because I contributed to bringing the club back to where it belongs."
Subsequently, when asked who his best coach was, Leao said: "It would have been great to have been coached by Jorge Jesus for longer, he is a coach who believed in me. I think, apart from Stefano Pioli, he is the best coach I have ever had."
Leao then spoke about his family and the World Cup. He said: "God gave me the talent to play at a high level and help my family. Winning the World Cup, I think, is every player's dream come true. Nothing is more important than winning a major tournament like the World Cup."
Speaking about Cristiano Ronaldo, Leao said: "He is an idol, and he will always be an idol. For my children, he will also be an idol, and my brother also admires him very much. It would be amazing to play with him."
