On the occasion of FC Barcelona's 125th anniversary, Lionel Messi gave an interview to Catalan radio, in which he discussed the performance of his old club.
Messi stated, “I feel very proud to see the current first team’s performance. This Barcelona is great, but I’m not surprised. It’s not something new; it has always been this way since I arrived at Barça when I was 13. What’s remarkable is that over the past two years, these young players have been given opportunities, and when you give them confidence, they respond in this way because they understand the club better than anyone else and have been accustomed to this style of play since they were young. If you support them, you will see results like we did in our time.”
Meanwhile, Messi said that when his journey in the United States comes to an end, he wants to return to Barcelona. "In our hearts, we will go back to live in Barcelona tomorrow. My wife, my children and I miss Barcelona very much. We have a lot of friends there and we left behind so many things. My children are Catalans. I spent my whole life in Barcelona and I feel like I'm a native of Barcelona. I miss that place terribly. You never know where life will take you, but our idea is to live in Barcelona because that's our home."
