Catalan midfielder to leave and the Club wish him the best of luck and every success in the future

An agreement has been reached between FC Barcelona and first team player Oriol Romeu to cancel his contract with the Club within the timeframe of the transfer market.

FC Barcelona thank Oriol Romeu for his professionalism, commitment and dedication, and wish him the best of luck and every success in the future.

Oriol Romeu returned to FC Barcelona from Girona for the 2023/24 season. This meant the midfielder once again donned blaugrana after leaving La Masia in the 2010/11 season. He joined the Club in 2004 and went through the youth categories until he made his debut under Pep Guardiola.

A very good 2022/23 season for Girona sealed his Barça return, which began very well as a starter in central midfield for the first few games of the 23/24 season under Xavi Hernández. However, his time on the pitch waned partly due to a knee injury, albeit he ended up playing 37 games, 17 as a starter, and totalled 1435 minutes in blaugrana. This paved the way for a return to Girona, where he started 21 of the 31 games he went on to play.
