Pumas tipped to take former Arsenal and Juventus midfielder to Liga MX

The buzz is growing, and it seems that Pumas might be gearing up for one of the summer’s biggest signings.

According to the transfer specialist César Luis Merlo, the Liga MX club’s management is eyeing a midfielder who has played for some of Europe’s biggest clubs.

The player in question is Aaron Ramsey, a 34-year-old Welsh international known for his natural talent in the attacking midfield role.

Ramsey set to be available on a free transfer

Having had spells with both Arsenal and Juventus, Ramsey’s contract with current club Cardiff City is set to expire on June 30, giving him the freedom to explore new opportunities.

Pumas’ current priorities are a central forward and wingers, so Ramsey isn’t the club’s primary target.

But a key factor in Ramsey’s potential arrival in Mexico is that his agent also represents Pumas head coach Efraín Juárez, which could facilitate negotiations.

More details will emerge in the coming days, and while the Welshman’s arrival isn’t guaranteed, it is under serious consideration at the Estadio Olímpico Universitario.

Pumas still to get transfer ban lifted

It’s worth noting that the seven-time Mexican champions remain under a FIFA transfer embargo, preventing them from registering new players. Until the ban is lifted, they won’t be able to finalize any signings.
