Wayne Rooney believes Thomas Tuchel's winning track record will make a big difference for England come the World Cup.

Tuchel took over last year as the permanent replacement for Gareth Southgate, who took England to two Euros finals, while reaching the semis and quarters at the 2018 and 2022 World Cups, respectively.
The German's first few months in charge saw England reach the World Cup without conceding a single goal in their qualification group.
They became the first European team to qualify for the tournament, and Rooney feels Tuchel, whose honours include a Champions League triumph with Chelsea, is the perfect manager to drag England to glory.
"Over the last few years they've done really well in the competitions and just fell short," Rooney told the Press Association.

"Thomas Tuchel's come in and looks like he's doing a really good job.
"I've worked with Gareth briefly with England, I've never worked with Tuchel. But I think the difference is Tuchel is a winner, he's won big trophies before.
"Sometimes, when you get to a certain stage of competitions, that experience really does help. Hopefully, he can take us to that next level.
"I hope England get to the last four. If they get to the last four, then anything can happen.
"With the experience of Tuchel and some of the players in the squad who have been there before, it will hopefully help us get over the line."
England face Uruguay on Friday before taking on Japan next week.
