According to Diario Sport, Spanish midfielder Gavi has finally returned to training with Barcelona after several months of absence following another knee surgery.
The report states that Gavi is a key member of the Barcelona first-team dressing room, his fighting spirit, presence, and charisma inspiring the entire team. Gavi has a close relationship with the younger generation in the dressing room and also displays excellent understanding with players like Lewandowski, Raphinha, and Araujo. His return to the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper after a long absence from training is a crucial step for the team's morale.
Gavi completed the initial training sessions under Flick's guidance. Upon his return, he, as usual, walked through the "high-five tunnel" formed by his teammates—a traditional celebration in the Barcelona dressing room for players returning from injury, renewing contracts, or making their first training session with new signings.
So far, Gavi has only participated in a small portion of training. The team doctors and coaching staff have not yet set a specific timetable for his return. After all he's been through, the La Masia academy product cannot afford to rush things.
After undergoing knee surgery last season, he experienced discomfort from an old injury and underwent another surgery on September 23rd. The surgery was performed by Dr. Joan Carles Monllau, with the club's medical team overseeing the entire process, to address the knee discomfort.
Flick has spoken about Gavi's significance to the team in several press conferences: "I see him almost every day. He's been training and making great progress. The most important thing for him is to stay calm, take it one step at a time, and not rush. He has a long career ahead of him; there's no need to rush. We would be happy if he could return in February, but for me, the most important thing is for him to come back fully healthy." He said this less than a month ago.
