Semenyo compares Man City start to a 'fairytale' after Fulham win

Antoine Semenyo described his start to life at Manchester City as a "fairytale" after registering a goal and an assist to help them beat Fulham and cut Arsenal's lead at the Premier League summit.

Semenyo reacted quickest when Matheus Nunes' hanging cross deflected off Sander Berge to prod in City's 24th-minute opener, then threaded in Nico O'Reilly to make it 2-0 six minutes later.

Erling Haaland then ended his eight-game wait for an open-play goal in the Premier League by making it 3-0 in the 39th minute, with City not needing to add to their lead after half-time.

Having also fought back to beat Liverpool 2-1 on Sunday, City now sit just three points behind Arsenal ahead of the leaders' visit to Brentford on Thursday, and Semenyo will be an interested viewer for that game.

"It's new to me. I'm enjoying it. But obviously it comes with a lot of pressure and demands," Semenyo told TNT Sports. "We have the team to do it.

"We just need to keep going. I'm just going to sit tight and watch the [Arsenal] game, and hopefully it goes our way, so let's see."

Since Semenyo joined City from Bournemouth, Viktor Gyokeres and Cole Palmer (eight apiece) are the only Premier League players to better his seven goal involvements in all competitions (five goals, two assists).

Asked what was behind his flying start to life at City, Semenyo said: "There are no secrets!

"It's just being part of a great team, a great environment, the coach has been great, and they've made it easy for me to settle in. It's all a fairytale right now.

"It was very important [to win]. That was the message from when the game was done against Liverpool.

"We were just backing up what we did on the weekend. It was a tough graft, and we got the three points. Today we did the same thing. I'm happy."

Since the start of last season, City team-mate Haaland (eight versus West Ham) is the only player with more goal involvements against a specific team in the Premier League than Semenyo versus Fulham (seven – four goals, three assists).
