Former Internazionale player Paolo Stringara discussed the Nerazzurri's current situation in an interview with TMW Radio. He stated that despite the overall decline in Italian football, Italian teams still possess their own strengths, and the gap between them and English teams is not as wide as generally perceived.
"Isn't Internazionale a team built to win the Champions League? Our current form isn't top-tier, but let's not forget, we Italians always manage to unearth more potential. A few years ago, Internazionale reached the Champions League final with this very group of players. Against Real Madrid, their performance was actually very good, if you disregard the mistakes. "
"Internazionale is currently top of the league in Italy, and they showed good quality in their match against Real Madrid. Italian football is indeed not what it once was, but we haven't become useless. We don't have money, but we have other advantages that can help us close the gap with other teams. We are indeed behind English teams, but the gap isn't that significant."
