On March 20, according to journalist Micky Jnr, as the controversy surrounding the governance of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) continues to escalate, Luxolo September, the current head of television and media communications for CAF, publicly voiced his support for current president Patrice Motsepe, emphasizing that the latter had no motive for accepting bribes.

In an interview, September stated bluntly: "No one can bribe Motsepe. He is not short of money. He has personally donated $10 million to the Confederation of African Football and has never received a penny of salary from the Confederation of African Football or FIFA."

According to publicly available information, the current president of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), Motsepe, is a South African billionaire entrepreneur and football administrator. He is the founder and non-executive chairman of Rainbow Minerals, a major South African mining company involved in gold, ferrous metals, base metals, and platinum. Motsepe acquired the South African powerhouse Mamelodi Sundowns Football Club in 2003. He serves on the boards of several companies, is the non-executive chairman of Harmony Gold (the world's 12th largest gold mining company), and the vice chairman of Sanlam. He also serves on the council of the World Economic Forum. Motsepe has close ties with current FIFA president Gianni Infantino.

In January 2024, CNBC Africa ranked Motsepe as the ninth richest person in Africa and the third richest in South Africa, behind only John Rupert and Nicky Oppenheimer, tied with Koos Bekker, with an estimated net worth of $2.7 billion. In May 2024, Forbes ranked Motsepe as the 1,175th richest person in the world, with a reported net worth of $2.9 billion.
