Tomori: AC Milan deserved win against Napoli; Allegri demands team-work

AC Milan defender Fikayo Tomori says victory over Napoli was thanks to coach Max Allegri's tactics.

Milan defeated Napoli 2-1 at San Siro stadium, with Tomori drawing praise for his defensive performance.

He later told Sky Italia:  "The coach asked us to defend as a single team, not just the defenders or centre backs, but all of us together. The important thing is to move as a unit, and this mentality gives us confidence: we know that even if we don't concede, with the quality of our attackers we can always strike.

"In recent games we've worked hard on our defense, and the results are showing: today we only conceded one penalty."

The English centre-back then recalled the team's improvement since the first few games of the season: "After the match against Cremonese, we were too long and disorganised.

"Today, however, we were compact and solid. It's true, the season didn't start the way we wanted, but it was only the beginning and Allegri told us that right away. Tonight too, he will certainly show us where we can improve, but always remain calm, positive, and clear-headed."

To conclude, Tomori underlined the strength of the team's spirit: "Even when we were numerically inferior we put in a great performance, taking home three deserved points."
