Despite an excellent start to the season, Dewsbury-Hall has yet to receive a call-up to the England squad. Tony Cascarino admitted that Dewsbury-Hall is Everton's biggest omission this season.
He said: "I think Dewsbury-Hall should have been called up. I'm not saying this because of last night's game.
"Back to Everton, talking about players who have performed exceptionally well, Dewsbury-Hall has been amazing in the past one or two months. He also had a great start to the season.
"This is also why others weren't selected, because if it's based on form, Dewsbury-Hall is more qualified for selection than Foden or Palmer. I would say he's done better than them.
"So if we're discussing based on form, there are definitely reasons for him to be included. But he didn't make it this time, Dewsbury-Hall.
"But I think he's really only one step away from getting into the squad."
In an interview with Sky Sports, he said: "I was very disappointed this morning, I don't want to lie. Playing for England is my biggest dream. I know I'm very close.
"Yes, it's sad, but I'm really proud of myself and my reaction.
"All I can do now is keep playing well and hopefully one day I'll get the call-up, because I'll never give up.
"I have that mindset. I'll keep working hard, keep pushing, and see what happens."
