JACK GREALISH humbly claimed that Adam Wharton should have won man of the match after being handed the award following Everton's win over Crystal Palace.
The Toffees ended the South Londoners' 19-game unbeaten run courtesy of Grealish's dramatic 93rd minute winner.
The Eagles had led at half-time via Daniel Munoz, only to be pegged back by Iliman Ndiaye's 76th minute penalty.
Munoz's 93rd minute clearance then cannoned off Grealish and into the back of the net to hand Everton all three points.
Speaking to Sky Sports after the game, the 30-year-old said: "That's what you want to do as winger, I have one goal now and four assists in the Premier League this season.
"That's what I want to do. It was difficult to do that today against such a good team, they have unbelievable players.
"Adam Wharton today... I can see the man of the match award there. I think that's coming to me.
"But it should have gone to Adam Wharton because in my opinion he was the best player on the pitch."
After being formally handed the award, a beaming Grealish added: "Cheers, third one now this season, so we take it."
Despite his resurgent form, the Manchester City loanee was left out of Thomas Tuchel's latest England squad.
Addressing the snub ahead of today's game, Grealish said: "First of all, you want to play well for your club, because that’s what we do every week.
"But, obviously, you want to be in the England squad.
"I do understand it. I spoke to the manager there, and I understand that there’s a lot of competition, especially in that left-wing spot at the moment.
"Rashy’s [Marcus Rashford] flying, Eze, Anthony Gordon, you know, everyone’s doing so well.
"I can’t really complain, it is what it is. Hopefully, I can just keep performing and keep influencing games."
Upon announcing his squad, Tuchel insisted that he has "no problem" with Grealish.
The German then added: "Jack knows that I see how influential he is for Everton and is on the way to being the best version of himself."
