Uli Hoeneß: Kompany will be back on the bench after the international break

Kompany's condition continues to improve gradually after he fainted on the training ground. Bayern Munich now seem to have a concrete plan for his return, as revealed by honorary president Uli Hoeneß.

In an interview with Bayerischer Rundfunk on Sunday, Uli Hoeneß said Kompany is expected to return in "two to three weeks." Hoeneß hinted: "That means he will be back on the coaching bench after the international break."

Previously, the Münchner Abendzeitung reported that Kompany aimed to be back in training no later than the Bundesliga match against Köln on November 20.

Other Bayern officials have also spoken positively about Kompany's recovery recently. However, assistant coach Aaron Danks, speaking on Friday, did not give a clear timetable as Hoeneß did.

Aaron Danks said: "I've had several very positive phone conversations with Vincent over the past few days. He sounds very optimistic and seems to be heading in the right direction in his recovery."

Bayern previously worried about Kompany's health

Aaron Danks continued: "We haven't set a specific date yet, but the international break gives us a good opportunity to assess the situation and decide when he can return."

Kompany is currently absent from Bayern due to symptoms of meningeal irritation, caused by a viral infection that was not treated in time. At the end of October, he suddenly fainted after finishing training at the Säbener Straße training ground. The Bayern coach then spent several days in hospital.

It is reported that every subsequent step in Kompany's recovery will be taken in close consultation with his treating physician. The coach will return to work only with the doctor's explicit approval.

Uli Hoeneß believes Kompany's excessive workload was a key reason for his illness. Uli Hoeneß warned: "He works 12 hours a day, six days a week, which is simply too much."
