When will Anthony Martial make his debut for Rayados?

French forward Anthony Martial has officially closed out the transfer window in Mexico - and for Monterrey. The former Manchester United striker is already in Nuevo León and joined Rayados training on Wednesday as the squad gears up for a marquee matchup against Club América in the upcoming Liga MX fixture.

Martial was unveiled as Monterrey’s newest signing last Friday, before touching down in Monterrey early on Monday. However, the team had the day off, so it wasn’t until Tuesday that he took part in his first training session with his new teammates.

“Ready to play”

Upon arrival, Martial expressed his eagerness to get started, though he acknowledged the challenge of adjusting to the time difference between Europe and Mexico. “I’m ready to play,” he said. “It’s just a matter of adjusting to the jet lag, but I feel good.”

Martial’s registration has already been processed on the Liga MX official website, meaning he could potentially make his debut this weekend. That decision will ultimately rest with the coaching staff, as the player will have had just three training sessions under his belt before matchday.

When did Martial last play?

The Frenchman began the current season with AEK Athens in Greece, where he last saw competitive action on July 24 in a UEFA Conference League fixture.

This move marks Martial’s first professional stint outside of Europe. He began his career with Olympique Lyonnais, broke out at AS Monaco, and spent nearly a decade at Manchester United. He also had brief spells with Sevilla and AEK Athens before making the leap to Liga MX.
