Pep Guardiola's wife Cristine Serra has been seen still wearing her wedding ring as she was spotted for the first time since news of her shock break-up from the Manchester City manager emerged.

Lorena Vazquez and fellow Spanish journalist Laura Fa, who make up a duo of well-respected showbiz reporters called the Mamarazzis, broke the story of the couple's split a fortnight ago.

Days later they claimed in a Podcast that fashion entrepreneur Cristina had decided 'enough was enough' after learning Pep had U-turned on a decision to quit Britain and was going to stay at City until 2027.

Guardiola recently signed a new contract to stay at the club for an extra two years, with his initial contract expiring at the end of this season.

She had said she was 'feeling great' despite the split, while Guardiola was mocked by rival fans as he arrived for his side's recent game against Brentford.

Serra has now been seen in public for the first time as she ventured out in Barcelona, still wearing her wedding ring as she enjoyed a shopping trip on Monday last week.

Serra showed off a stylish look of white trainers and loose-fitting grey trousers with a designer handbag slung over the left shoulder of her cream-coloured coat.

Guardiola, 53, and Serra married in an intimate ceremony on the outskirts of Barcelona in 2014 but have now decided to part ways.

The couple, who met in 1994, had been living apart for more than five years after Serra moved back to Barcelona with one of their three daughters, Valentina, 17, while Guardiola remained in Manchester.

They have two other children together: Maria, 24 and Marius, 22.

Guardiola and Serra had remained a couple despite not living in the same city and have regularly been pictured together in the years since.

Sport reports that the decision to end their marriage was made in December, with only members of their inner circle aware of the split. Their trusted friends and family have also been told not to disclose any further information, according to the publication.

Serra decided to leave Manchester in 2019 to help oversee the fashion company owned by her family, Serra Claret, which stocks several brands the City manager is often seen wearing. Guardiola also makes regular trips back to Spain to see his wife and their children.

Guardiola and Serra met while the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich boss was modelling for designer Antonio Miro in the shop in the Spanish city.

They began a long-distance relationship when Guardiola was a footballer, before they bought a home together in Barcelona. The couple later moved to Germany when Guardiola was manager of Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich.

According to Sport, their relationship is 'totally cordial, stable and friendly' despite the split.

Asked last week how she was doing, the mum-of-three replied: 'Perfecta, gracias' - 'Perfect, thanks' in English.

She added: 'Everything's fine' when quizzed again about her frame of mind.
