Hojlund joined his boyhood club Man Utd in 2023 for £72m from Serie A side Atalanta but managed to score just 26 goals across 95 appearances in all competitions in what many consider to be a failed move despite him being just 22 years old.
The Denmark international continued to plead his case for staying with The Red Devils, he said:
“I’m still very young. People forget that sometimes. I’m only 22. Not every striker scores 100 goals by that age.
“But I’ve learned a lot, I think you can see it in my game. I’m starting to develop and become even better in the basics.
“Last season was tough on us all. I should have done better, everybody knows.”
However, manager Ruben Amorim was ruthless as he shipped him off to the Serie A on loan in a deal that reportedly includes a £34M obligation to buy clause that will be activated if the Italian champions qualify for the Champions League.
The Athletic report that the 22-year-old was left "heartbroken" and that he believes himself to be better than summer signing Benjamin Sesko. The report also states that United kept the truth of their transfer intentions from him this summer in what is a merciless move from Amorim and his staff.
