Chivu, 45, came in to replace the wildly successful Simone Inzaghi in the summer after the Italian left Inter to join Saudi Pro League side Al Hilal.

According to Gazzetta.it, things could have been very different, with Marotta revealing that a reunion with Mourinho, who won a treble at Inter, was discussed.
"I'm surprised people were surprised by Cristian's skill,” he said.
“We chose him because he represents important values; he had the courage to go against the grain, even in the media. Some even mentioned Mourinho, who, with all due respect... If I hadn't had the courage, I would have regretted it."
Mourinho has since returned to Portugal to take over at Benfica, the club where his illustrious 25 year career began.
