Napoli "confident" of snapping up MU striker Hojlund in €45M loan to buy deal

The Danish international has three years left on his contract at Old Trafford and was omitted from the squad for United's first two Premier League games of the season against Arsenal and Fulham by manager Ruben Amorim who is keen to move him on.

The Italian champions have expressed an interest in the striker after it became clear he was not going to feature under Amorim again this season and now according to Fabrizio Romano it looks like the deal is close to being completed.

“Napoli are confident to get Rasmus Højlund deal done very soon as talks are at final stages!

“Loan with buy option clause to become mandatory for fee close to €45m package.

“Contract until June 2030 for Rasmus, waiting on exit terms agreement with Man United.”

The move could become an obligation if certain conditions are met, and Sport Mediaset maintain the conditions are a set number of goals and appearances by Hojlund for Napoli rather than aspects like qualifying for the Champions League.

If the €45m fee is confirmed this week, it is still a huge drop from the €77M plus €10M bonuses that United paid to buy the 22 year old from Atalanta in August 2023. Hojlund scored 10 league goals in his first season for United, but struggled last term and netted just four times in the Premier League in 32 appearances.

He will be hoping for a much better showing in the Serie A alongside former Premier League stars such as Scott McTominay and Kevin De Bruyne who are thriving so far in Italy as Napoli aim for the title once again.
