Roma have reportedly increased their offer to sign Manchester City youngster Claudio Echeverri, with the Serie A side seeking a loan with an option to buy.
Echeverri, 19, agreed to join City from River Plate for £12.5million in January 2023, but remained on loan at the club for a year.
The highly-rated attacking midfielder eventually joined Pep Guardiola's squad in February.
Echeverri has made three appearances for Man City to date, with the teenager coming off the bench in the FA Cup final, as well making a brief cameo on the final day of the Premier League season.
The midfielder scored his first Man City goal against Al Ain in the Club World Cup in June, with the Argentine firing in a superb free kick for his new club.
Echeverri's future remains in doubt, amid reports Man City had planned to loan him to their sister club Girona in Spain.
Reports in Italy have claimed the teenager has turned down the move and wants to link up with fellow Argentinians Paulo Dybala and Matias Soule at Roma.
According to the Rome based Corriere dello Sport, the Serie A side have submitted an offer to sign Echeverri on loan with an option to buy for £29million.
The offer reportedly marks an increase from an initial £21million option.
Roma are claimed to be insistent on having an option to buy to avoid increasing Echeverri's value next season, only for him to return to Man City.
The club are said to have included an £35million buy-back clause in their offer, which would net them a £6million profit if activated by Man City.
It is claimed Echeverri is keen to make the move, which is being pushed by Roma boss Gian Piero Gasperini.
Prior to joining Man City, Echeverri made 48 appearances in all competitions for River Plate in Argentina, contributing four goals and eight assists.
The 19-year-old's stock rose further when he was the driving force during Argentina Under-20s run to the final at the South American Championships in January.
Captaining the side, Echeverri netted six goals and recorded three assists during the tournament.
Echeverri, who was handed his River Plate debut by former City defender Martin Demichelis, also shone at the Under 17 World Cup in 2023, scoring five goals.
This included a hat-trick against Argentina's arch-rivals Brazil.
