Massara has flown to London for talks with Jadon Sancho in an attempt to convince the Manchester United winger about a move to Italy.
United are eager to sell and have slashed their asking price to a knockdown €10-15m.
However, the stumbling block is Sancho's wage demands, with his United salary well outside Roma's budget.
.This morning, a meeting was scheduled with Emeka Obasi, the player's agent, and Sancho himself. It has also been suggested that president Dan Friedkin, who is expected in Rome later today, was to be present, says Il Corriere dello Sport.
Leon Bailey is also pushing Sancho to join him in Rome. The two have known each other since their Bundesliga days and are very close off the pitch.
